Application forms and accompanying notes for 2010/2011 are now available to download at http://www.studentfinance.ie/mp7658/view-a-sample-application-form/index.html. Please note that this is not an online application facility - this downloadable form must be printed down in full, completed, signed and returned by post to Kerry Education Service, Riverside House, Dan Spring Road, Tralee, Co. Kerry. The official closing date is 31st August, 2010.

Late Opening
To facilitate students and parents the Grants Section of Kerry Education Service will remain open to the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m Tuesdays and Thursdays during the month of September commencing Thursday 2nd September 2010.
Budgetary Changes - Back to Education Allowance
People in receipt of the Back to Education Allowance for all schemes and the VTOS allowance for those pursuing a PLC course will no longer be eligible for student support grants. However, the cost of the student service charge and any fees payable to colleges will continue to be met by the Exchequer on their behalf. This will apply to all new grant holders in the 2010/2011 academic year onwards. Certain criteria will apply to students who have already commenced Third Level Courses - Please see attached in relation to Back to Education Allowance & VTOS - Please contact Kerry Education Service for further clarification.

2010 Grants Schemes are now available

There are three main Third Level Grant Schemes offered by Kerry Education Service (KES).
VEC SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME (Irish Version of Scheme) for students attending:
- Degree Courses at Institutes of Technology
- Degree Courses in Universities in Ireland and other EU States for applicants who have already obtained a National Certificate or National Diploma
THIRD LEVEL MAINTENANCE GRANTS SCHEME FOR TRAINEES (T.L.T.) (Irish Version of Scheme) for students attending:
- National Certificate and National Diploma Courses at Institutes of Technology
MAINTENANCE GRANTS SCHEME FOR STUDENTS ATTENDING POST LEAVING CERTIFICATE COURSES (Irish Version of Scheme) for:
- Full time students who are registered on approved Post Leaving Certificate Courses
Applications are subject to a Means Test and are confined to:
- Candidates whose parents/guardians were bone fide resident in County Kerry on October 1st 2009.
and
- Mature candidates whose parents/guardians or he/she in the case of a mature candidate who is not dependent on his/her parents, were bone fide residents in County Kerry on October 1st 2009.
